Dr. Marisela Rodriguez, PhD
Founder and Executive Director
She founded EPD Consulting in September 2025 with one mission: to help early-stage drug and platform developers make explicit choices on their innovative journey and turn those choices into action.
At BioNTech in Mainz, Germany, she built out the infectious disease R&D management team, which focused on global health threats: HIV, Tuberculosis, and Malaria. She managed a portfolio exceeding €150 million euros, guided 7 Program Managers across 11 global preclinical and clinical programs, and led over 100+ subject-matter experts across 5 multidisciplinary drug development programs.
Before BioNTech, she contributed to global health initiatives at the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) where she played a critical role in influenza research, vaccine development and strain selection. She also established the avian influenza vaccine core facility at the USA Department of Agriculture (USDA) at Southeast Poultry Research Laboratory in Athens, Georgia.
Based in Frankfurt Germany, Marisela and her family live in the heart of Germany's emerging biomedical landscape, the Hessen-Rhein-Main-Neckar region. Dr. Rodriguez serves clients globally. Her strategic insights are the bolts in the bridge that translate drug developments into business endeavors with high-impact investor narratives.
Why I Do This
Biomedical Innovations don't make themselves. They are built. I want to provide the emerging biotech community with the tools and insights they need to have the greatest likelihood of success in reaching pivotal-stage trials.
The emerging biotech landscape is multicultural. Therefore, I prioritize clarity over cleverness for non-native English speakers. If information is not understood, then plans, strategies, roadmaps don't get executed.
